BJ's in Quincy set to open in April

NYC - Queens - Long Island City: Silver Cup St...Image by wallyg via Flickr
So amidst any further delays the club in Quincy is set to open in April....The Patriot Ledger has more on the 85,000 sqft store.

Aside from the barrage of complaints we're received regarding the increased Club politics during the past few months (in metro NY) we'd like to hear from workers all over, are these politics affecting your work atmosphere as much as they are here in NY?  Even the Long Island workers are saying things are "tightening up" more and more.

Let us know, keep the emails coming.

Anybody here about wage issues w/ BJ's lately?

No complaint about wages, just the way Cornel tries to micro manage the business. He acts like every club is exactly the same. If he had ever actually worked in a club he might be more believeable. All of upper management over reacts to anything that happens on the club level and institutes rules to cover their a** because some people are idiots.

Is there anybody at home office left that actuallly worked in a club? I would guess maybe only 2% even know what the inside of one of our clubs outside of Framingham or Dedham looks like.

Some are idiots.....
How about most of them.
You should all realize that at corporate level, they have no clue

BJ's in Mass is RETARDED; When they are putting payroll budgets together they are giving more payroll to clubs based on which VP lives in their town, this is an absurd level of thinking all it does is paint a false picture in the real BJ's world in other clubs. What company TAKES payroll away during the timeframe between Thanksgiving and Christmas?? Apparently BJ's is that company, agree with poster stating Cornell is trying to micromanage the stores..try working in an area where Cornell can pop in at any moment any day any time, I don't think I have ever met anybody that lives in more of a pretend world than him. The major problem with BJ's right now resides at the ZONE VP level, as long as we have ZONE VPs that have no balls to stick up for the retail side of the business to Cornell this company won't run at its full potential. Almost a box a day of email communication, we are being over communicated to it is near impossible to even have the time to read all of the memos. Somebody throw us a life line...

The payroll issues are stupid. Who the hell has payroll cut so that you only have a few cashiers on a Saturday during the Holidays? OR have Personel asking for tem members to go home.

This is what happens when someone in charge, Cornell, doesn't know what he is doing because he never worked in the clubs. I almost long for the days of Mike Wedge, well maybe not. Laura needs to assert control and do what is right for the business.

The more they save, the bigger bonus to those higher up then most of us

They need to eliminate Bonuses for coming in under budgeted payroll. All that leads to is inefficiency and poor moral. The hourly workers are not stupid. And enough with this 30 hour full time and 37.5 hour full time. Confusing as hell. Cant tell you how many people thought they were being hired at 40 hour full, then get told no its really only 30 hour. Some deceptive hiring practices by some HR
