Things stirring up in Queens....

We've been meeting with tons of workers from the BJ's Queens locations, most workers are begining to bring us more and more unsatisfied workers from BJ's. We know most workers are still scared to post on the blog but leave us some comments on how you think our campaign is going or how you think we can improve it...We love hearing from everyone and are looking forward to hearing and seeing everyone at our next meeting in Queens!

iwould not allow any manager to yell at me. Especially for a company with out a union and w ithout benefits and job security. I would PREFER TO WORK FOR A COMPANY WITH A UNION WHERE I HAVE RECOURSE WHEN SUCH A SITUATION ARISES.

  2. I work in the Colege Point store and just had my hours cut for no reason. This happens often and makes it difficult to budget my expenses. Many of my co-workers are having the same problem.

  8. Hey I work at The College Point store, I have been there for about nine months now, and I have yet to receive a raise in pay.
I work hard, I have perfect attendance, I have done all that has been asked of me and I have not received a raise in pay. I thought that I would have been making more money by now.
Anyone else experiencing the same problem?

  10. I work in Metro Mall and during the cold months I had to work outside without protected gear supplied by my employer. I was recently diagonosed with pnuemonia and up to now I am under a lot of medication to get well. Of course I have no medical coverage from the Company therefore my whole salary is going towards my medical bills.

  11. I use to work for the bj's in college point, they treat employees like shit, favoritism runs rampant there you get a write up for no reason what so ever. And when the managers like Rodney and Maria can't push you around anymore they accuse you of stealing and fire you.I worked as a cashier and in quality control one is worse than the other. You ever hear of someone getting fired for ringing up a pizza at the wrong register, supposedly and the best part is nobody tells you not to ring anyone up in quality control.Whats up with those mopes that lean on the podium in the front of the registers, try flashing that ridiculous light and see how long it takes them to respond. If you buy perishables there be very careful the pathetic front end associates leave perishables laying in wagons for hours, many people i know have gotten sick from food there.I personally returned food that was long past expired and still on the shelf. That place sucks if your smart you won't apply for a job there if you do.Watch out you'll be fired for bogus reasons.

  12. As an ex-employee of bj's,i went to work one worked an hour or so,Got called into personnel by Rodney and Maria was being accused of some bullshit theft, now tell me what asshole is going to steal with a cameras watching every angle of you.I know it and everybody with a brain knows the easiest way to get rid of a cashier is to short their till and accuse them,it took 2 moron managers and 3 jackass Lp loss prevention idiots to come up with trying to fire me well,i walked in the office threw my name badge on the table and told them i quit.Anyboby who's ever been to bj's knows about those jackasses at the door LP checking peoples wagons, but their so hip on stealing suppossedly, when a customer steals they blame the poor cashier people hide shit in their carts, the asshole managers there love nothing better than to stick it to the cashiers.Watch out for those cutthroats in personel alls they know how to do is sit on their asses and talk about getting laid the past weekend.By the way anyone who does want to shoplift at bj's their so called security is all plain clothes people, they spend their day sitting in the office looking at the bullshit cameras that don't even work half the time.PS every friday go up the stairs to the employees lunch room up the stairs next to personel for some free food.tell them Maria or Rodney gave you permission. If you want to steal medicine take that white security strip off the box, also check inside on the bottle. The only nice guys that work there is Denzil or Mike in quality control if they didn't get falsely accused of something and get fired.good-bye make sure you enjoy some of that food i told you about Friday all day employee lunchroom.

  14. I am an x-employee of BJs. I was terminated for a bogus reason. I was very aware that my manager and his manager wanted to let me go but couldn't find a reason. I worked in sales and was accused of falsifying business cards which is impossible, but I went along with it because the tension wasn't worth the trouble. I now feel that there's a huge weight lifted off my shoulders not working for them. It's a very tight, closely knit group at the store. In addition, a manager was in the room when I was terminated and couldn't wait to tell all the members that I was terminated which is unethical. She should be terminated. That information should be kept confidential.

  16. As a FORMER BJ'S Manager,FYI... Most employees in the United States are at-will employees, even though most employees are unaware of this situation. In most states, the law presumes that private sector employees are employed "at-will." The employment-at-will doctrine provides that both the employer and the employee can end the employment relationship at any time without notice or reason. This means the employer has the right to terminate your employment at any time, for any reason, or for no reason at all or for a bad reason, so long as the reason is not illegal - even if you performance has been outstanding. The other side of the "at-will" coin is that you, as an employee, can quit your job for any reason at any time. You cannot be forced to work for an employer. You don't have to give your employer a reason for quitting. That is how BJ'S legally gets rid of employees.

  17. To the ex-employee who said they were unfairly terminated, not unusual. The stupid ass manager who went around running her mouth it wasn't a bitch named maria was it.I think those tight ass pants she always wears squeezed her brain out of her ass when she took a crap. Her and that jerk off rodney fired me for ringing up a friggin pizza at the quality control register imagine that shit getting terminated for ringing up a pizza, guess they would have perferred the employee steal it.Who in there right mind wants to wait on the long ass food line when you only get a lousy half hour break. The real kicker here is they wrote up the reason for termination was theft what theft stealing somebodies chance to ring up a pizza, that must be a felony oops,It took 3 stupid ass managers to handle it,they couldn't figure it out w/o g or whatever his name was.Do the idiots on the front end still screw people out of a break, you literally have to ask every 5 minutes flashing the regiter light which takes them forever to respond to.that store wouldn't stay open for a week if the employees were lucky enough to get a union.rodney and maria if you read the get a real job.
