BJ's In the News April 2010

Haven't posted in a while, we'll post the month in comments later this week, but here's some recent BJ's news:

BJ's Wholesale Club to move headquarters to Westborough from Natick
A spokeswoman for BJ’s Wholesale Club said Thursday that the company is planning to move its corporate headquarters and nearly 1,000 employees from Natick to more spacious accommodations in Westborough early next year.

Quincy to BJ's: Get pretty or else

The city of Quincy got tough with BJ's Wholesale Club over the appearance of a new store, the Patriot Ledger reports.

BJ's Wholesale Club is listed 232 on Fortunes 500 Annual Ranking of Americas Largest Corporations

A steady stream of shoppers looking for deals on necessities has helped the wholesale club operators Costco Wholesale Corp. and BJ’s Wholesale Club Inc. deliver profit gainswhile many of their grocery competitors struggle....

BJ's a leading warehouse club operator in the United States , recently posted strong sales results for the five-week period ended April 3, 2010 driven by the shift in Easter holidays and better weather.

BJ’s Wholesale Club will be hosting a Memorial Day Letter Writing Campaign from May 1st to May 31st to support our service members and celebrate Military Appreciation Month.

  1. Increasing sales, new headquarters, big bonus' at the expense of the employees. Gotta love BJ'S

  2. Do you work for BJ's? If you do, and you're not happy, then QUIT! Those who receive the bonus deserve it, we work hard enough and have to take the customers' abuse, so yeah, the company is doing very well, but bonuses are NOT at the employees' expense, they actually give bonuses to the employees, mid-managers and up.

  3. Actually, by reducing payroll ( at the expense of the employees),it creates lower operating costs that improve the bottom line, which allows the company to pay bonus' to those who collect them.

  4. We truly are blessed to have a successful employer. I have worked in retail for 20 years, and i have been apart of closing stores with other companies, and i must say i feel very comfortable with BJ's. Who knows what the future holds for BJ's but it could always be worse. The one benefit i would like BJ's to offer it's team members, is a legitimate profit sharing bonus. Other retail chains can offer it, but i guess that would be asking too much.

  6. I love working for bjs wholesale club. If you are one of those employees that don't ,then just leave. The longevity of its employees speaks for itself.

  7. This is an interesting article. I particularly found the comment from an ex-employee who voiced her opinion to her DM, and was promptly fired the next day.

Select Edit and in the Find on this Page box type, I used to work for Menards. That will bring you to her post.

I don't think anything of that nature ever happened at BJ's. I truly think its a good place to work. No other company I worked for has came close to giving me the job satisfaction that BJs' has.

  8. I agree that BJ's is a great place to work; where else can employees eat, shit & sleep half the night while on the clock?

  9. What might a leveraged buy-out mean? Do some research, start here: copy and paste to browser; http://www.businessknowledgesource.com/finance/what_buyouts_mean_financially_028576.html

  10. Our DM paid a visit to our club this morning, with nothing nice to say. She goes out of her way to point out elementary schisms. She always seems to attack our dept. Maybe it's because we have a female-male imbalance. She rides in on her high horse, while claiming she's a vegetarian, but she's easily over 260 lbs. What kind of vegatarian is overweight?

  12. i think that the company is a huge joke. the managers sit there like they are god and rein over all of the little pee-ons. while the little pee-ons are down there watching and scheming on how to make their managers life a living hell... and no one sees that this is going on. they cant give you anything that they promise. they cant keep a deal to save their pethatic little lives and they have NO respect for the people who make the company possible (all the little employees ex: anyone who is NOT a manager). maybe you should try showing your employees that you actually give a damn about them and the company would run a whole lot smoother and have a much higher success rate... just something to think about for all you so called "managers". sad part is i dont even work for the company, i am just a frequent shopper and can see all of this stuff happening. you make your employees miserble, which in retutrn makes us, the customers miserble!

  13. To the pee-on that loves working at BJ's club. Try working night stocking and see if you still love this place. BJ's manual says you are not allowed to lift over 30 lbs without help and if you do so and get injured you will not covered by BWC. their so called 30 lb rule is a joke. I had to lift from 50-70lbs all night long continueously on my 8 hr shift lifting and stocking the shelves, ask for help you are shown the door, training says they provide a back support brace too, NOT!!!!! They do not go by any of their own guidelines and could care less about their employees. If you're not going to stick to your own rules then why have them in print and why make us sit through 4 hours of training because it doesn't mean crap. You were either a door person or cashier if you love this stupid place and no doubt never did any of the real work while you were there.Work overnight stock and see how in love you still are with this place.

  15. Kinetic watches are considered as great investment and energy-saving gadgets, but the
solar-powered models can easily compete with them. For illustrative purposes, imagine you are faced with an
important legal matter, and it is up to you to choose the best lawyer, choose right and walk away free, choose wrong and
you may pay a hefty fine, or worse. Another watch tipped by some fashionista's is the MK8160.

  16. The Lego figure has an evil face, a detailed body with a cape and
removable helmet as well as the inevitable
red lightsaber. Somehow, the adults are also fascinated to have them for their own collection even when they no longer play with them.
It is also a must to have a player and star wars disc, right size
of projector screen for the venue, multimedia projector, and remember also, do not forget good ventilation.
