Yesterday the Wall Street Journal ran a story which said that President Barack Obama told AFL-CIO union leaders Tuesday in a videotaped address that the controversial Employee Free Choice Act will pass, "signaling his full backing for legislation that makes union organizing easier..."
"We will pass the Employee Free Choice Act," President Obama told more than 100 top labor officials in a closed-door meeting at the labor federation's winter gathering in Miami, according to people at the meeting.

The LAST thing you would want is a union. Collect dues, hire more people to pay dues, give current employees LESS hours. Imagine less hours AND having to pay union dues. NOT a smart move. They tried to unionize a few years ago to no avail. Unions had their place YEARS AGO, but in today's world, NO THANKS

As a meat cutter , i believe a union would benefit me, but as a whole, a union doesn't belong @ BJ's.

I have worked for unions in the past, and i have to say that's where unions benefitted its workers..in the psst.
I worked in a union grocery store... dues and dues on top of dues.. and what did I get out of it? I had to quit to get a better paying full time job... It got me nothing but some union guy rich! It was the worst enviornment I ever worked in besides...
They had their time... and went out with Hoffa... how many union guys you know out of work because they can't negotiate wages? I know one, my husband... out of work 8 months now... and can't even go get a job or he is a scab! They aren't paying my bills!!!! NO WAY DO I WANT TO DEAL WITH THAT AGAIN!!! Keep them far away from me.

In reference to Unions...
They butter you up with with drinks & dinner and pressure you to sign on the dotted line with half truths. Now they have you by the shortshairs.
FACT: Do you get paid when you are on strike? NO!
FACT: Are your still required to pay union dues when on strike? YES
FACT: They make the rules in their favor... You notice they don't have a strike clause in their contracts, because they know they won't get paid.
FACT: Say you vote in a union, then strike for more pay, better benefits, etc. Most assuradly you will be out of a job because BJ's DOES NOT HAVE TO ACCEPT the union offer! Those benefits & pay raises the union "verbally" promises you, but "NEVER" in writing are not a guarantee! The one thing I can guarantee you is you will be in the street with NO PAY, CARRYING A UNION PLACARD, while the union fat cats sit back and stradigize as how to get more money & dues out of you!
I sit here ROTFLMAO at the gullibility of those who fall for their lies.

Everyone at my club knows about this website. There is a lot of negative comments about fellow team members. I feel that a couple people were just venting because they have issues that no one seems to be concerned about. I think this BJ's Workers Blog was a good place to do that and they felt comfortable doing so on here because they noticed that they could post anonymous. They feel that if they bring these issues up that thier job would be threatened and the reason I feel this way is because if they find out who posted anonymously they are going to be fired. People want to find out who posted what so bad but thats why I'm thanking you because you let the team members without a voice be heard without the fear of repremand. Instead of trying to find out who posted what, I think they should try to right the wrongs within instead of planning a vengeance on the postee. Once again thank you for having a place for the "no voices" be heard.
